Hello folks!

After many unexplained rescheduled bond hearings Yesenia Palencia, a lesbian woman from El Salvador detained in Eloy Detention Center, has finally received a bond of $15,000!

“Yesenia Palencia is a lesbian woman who escaped an abusive past in El Salvador, seeking  a better life for herself and her children in the U.S. She was instead detained in Eloy Detention Center in Arizona where she has been for about a year. As a lesbian, Yesenia faces abuse and violence at Eloy. In September of 2013, she faced sexual assault. The complaint she filed as received no attention from officials. She has since faced harassment from officers and fears that the situation may grow worse.

Yesenia dreams of getting out of Eloy and continuing her life here in the United States. She wishes to bring her children from El Salvador and unify her familia. Yesenia wants to join LGBTQ migrant community to help fellow detainees as the community is helping her.” – Cynthia Domenzian Mejia on Yesenia’s GoFundMe Page
